Cave Renovation Camps

Cave Renovation:

Place: Daher’s Vineyard (Nassar Farm)

Work type: Renovating Caves.

Number of Volunteers: Open.

Participation Fee: $150 (This amount covers food, accommodation, lectures, different programs and activities. However, it doesn’t cover field trips).

Food will be prepared for the volunteers at meals time, for snacks and refreshments, you will be able to purchase from the snack bar which is usually open during the day.

Accommodation: volunteers will sleep tents at the campsite.

Please Note: Participants are expected to pay for their flights and to cover for their health insurance.

Project Details:

This unique project will include lectures about caves in general and the caves on Daher’s vineyard in specific, in order to start with renovating it is very advisable to understand and realize the type of caves you will be working with and how to be careful in renovating. During the day you will be able to go for tours to different places and explore Bethlehem area and the type of caves different areas as well you will get to know the interesting landscape and will meet lots of locals.

The volunteers are expected to help in cleaning, renovating, painting and decorating some of the caves on Daher’s vineyard. This type of work is very interesting for the people who never experience it before; it is very unique because the caves on the vineyard are very old and special. At the beginning the work would not be as expected because it takes quite a long time to make it look nice but when it’s done you will be able to see the results and the beauty in the caves and stones itself.

Useful Guidelines:

Make sure to get enough sleeping hours because this type of work usually starts very early in the morning because it can get very hot during the day.

Weather:

June : The weather is mostly hot, dry and dusty. Between 22º-27º. On the vineyard it is usually hot during the day and it can get chilly in the evening.

T-Shirts “light outfits”

Baggy trousers with pockets “cheap quality brand” for work.

Light jacket “for the evening”.

A cap, hat, bandana.

Sun glasses.

Working gloves.

Long boots “for working in the fields”

Tent “if possible to carry”
