Children Summer Camp:

Place: Daher’s Vineyard (Nassar Farm)

Number of Volunteers: Open.

Participation Fee: $150 (This amount covers food, accommodation, lectures, different programs and activities. However, it doesn’t cover field trips).

Food will be prepared for the volunteers at meals time, for snacks and refreshments, you will be able to purchase from the snack bar which is usually open during the day.

Accommodation: volunteers will sleep on beds in a big tent at the campsite.

Please Note: Participants are expected to pay for their flights and to cover for their health insurance.

Project Details:

The Children’s Summer Camps “Bringing Nature to Life”

The festival will be held for children from the Bethlehem region to take part in Arts, music, dance, theatre, sport and games. This will also be a chance for children to experience camping for the first time and learn about their rural heritage in a peaceful location. The projects will be educational and will promoting tolerance and peace and will challenge prejudice, but most importantly it will be a chance for the children to have a break from the politics that overwhelm their childhood.

Program

Week One: 20-30 children between the ages 10 to 15 will be invited to visit the land on a daily bases to experience the rural setting and take part in one-day creative projects. We will also hold football and volleyball matches, a one-day Olympics and an evening treasure hunt.

Week Two: 20-30 children are invited to stay for one week camping. They will learn about Palestinian rural life and nature- a knowledge that is vastly being lost in modern Palestine. They will also develop their talents at music, dance and theatre for a performance on the final day to celebrate what they learned at the camp with their families.

Useful Guidelines:

Make sure to get enough sleeping hours because this type of work usually starts very early in the morning because it can get very hot during the day.

July: The weather is mostly hot, dry and dusty. Between 22º-30º. On the vineyard it is usually hot during the day and it can get chilly in the evening.
